The Rise of Virtual Reality Technology

I was walking through the mall with my daughter and her cousin and on that particular day they pleaded with me to let them ride the virtual roller coaster. It was a cabin fitted to a mechanism that moved up, down, forwards, and backwards to simulate the pull of gravity while you sat in the cabin. It seemed harmless enough, the price tag for the 3 of us was about US $35 for about 5 minutes of thrills, I thought that was a  little expensive for 5 minutes, but to see the children light up when I gave in to their request was worth it.

We fitted our 3D goggles, pulled down the harness, and they closed the cabin door and off we went. I was totally amazed as to how real the visual display looked combined with the sensation of gravity I actually felt like I was on the 'Cyclone' Roller Coaster at Coney Island. I was also amazed by the people in line waiting to pay their $12 dollars for their turn.

When I got home and thought about the experience and the people standing on line waiting to give the attendant more money. The graphics I saw were truly sensational. I decided to look into digital graphics, the only name I knew was the name of the company that supplied my graphics card in my laptop, NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA). When I looked at the chart and saw the gains the company had recorded in the last 12 months. I knew then, that digital graphics were hot and definitely worth the time to develop a strategy to seek gains from an investment in this sector of the technology market.

To test my theory, that companies that produce components for digital graphic applications are in a hot sector of the market. I just pulled up the chart of another manufacturer of graphic cards for computers, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD). We should see a very similar pattern in its trading values, if indeed companies producing components that can enhance the visual presentation of digital information are in greater demand.

The patterns were identical.

The 52 week range for AMD is $2.15 to $15.55 that's a 623.26% increase. Got your attention now!!?? The 52 week range for NVDA is $31.04 to $120.92 a 289.56% increase. The dynamic increases in the value of these stocks definitely got my attention! What really got me excited as I researched further is the fact that the devices these companies are preparing for have not been made available to the world 's masses yet.The driverless automobile, auto pilot drones and flying taxis are just some of the innovations that AMD and NVDA are creating components for.

Since I have been following these stocks I've noticed that they are both involved in making some very lucrative partnerships with some very powerful potential allies. AMD has entered into a relationship with Microsoft (MSFT) to develop and release hardware with cloud delivery features, a chip designed to interact with the new demands of cloud computing, they are calling it the 'Naples' processor. This new chip will have features enabling it to deal with the international demands of the new global data center customers. NVDA has made an alliance with 'The Big Blue,' IBM, to pursue the same objectives in regards to cloud computing, NVDA has also been called upon to integrate their chips with the Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications being developed by IBM. MSFT appears to be hedging itself and has entered into a relationship with NVDA as well. The success of these new products is yet to be seen, the investment potential is yet to be realized, one thing is sure, both companies have realized tremendous gains in the last year and both companies are being pursued by two very dominant forces in new age technology.
